Some Promises from God to Meditate On, Especially
When You Feel Overwhelmed
God’s Word is a great source of encouragement.
You may want to print these promises out and put them on
cards or read the verses in their context to understand
more about what God is saying in each situation. In any
case, allow God’s Word to encourage you and bring you hope.
The LORD himself goes before you and will
be with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you. Do
not be afraid; do not be discouraged.” – Deuteronomy 31:8

stronghold in times of trouble. – Psalm 9:9

teaches them his way. – Psalm 25:9

the sake of your name lead and guide me. – Psalm 31:3

Do you not know? Have you not heard? The
LORD is the everlasting God, the Creator of the ends of
the earth. He will not grow tired or weary, and his understanding
no one can fathom. He gives strength to the weary and increases
the power of the weak. Even youths grow tired and weary,
and young men stumble and fall; but those who hope in the
LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings
like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will
walk and not be faint. – Isaiah 40:28-31
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD,
“plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give

The LORD is good, a refuge in times of trouble.

Blessed are those who mourn, for they will
be comforted. – Matthew 5:4
“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened,
and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn
from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will
find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden
is light.” – Matthew 11:28-30
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust
in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many
rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going
there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare
a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with
me that you also may be where I am. – John 14:1-3
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom
the Father will send in my name, will teach you all things
and will remind you of everything I have said to you. –
John 14:26

for the good of those who love him, who have been called
according to his purpose. – Romans 8:28

is common to man. And God is faithful; he will not let

tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can
stand up under it. – 1 Corinthians 10:13
We are hard pressed on every side, but not
crushed; perplexed, but not in despair; persecuted, but
not abandoned; struck down, but not destroyed. – 2 Corinthians
4:8-9
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient
for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore
I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so
that Christ’s power may rest on me. That is why, for Christ’s
sake, I delight in weaknesses, in insults, in hardships,
in persecutions, in difficulties. For when I am weak, then
I am strong. – 2 Corinthians 12:9-10
I pray also that the eyes of your heart may
be enlightened in order that you may know the hope to which
he has called you, the riches of his glorious inheritance
in the saints, and his incomparably great power for us
who believe. That power is like the working of his mighty
strength, – Ephesians 1:18-19

present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which
transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and
your minds in Christ Jesus. – Philippians 4:4-7
If any of you lacks wisdom, he should ask
God, who gives generously to all without finding fault,
and it will be given to him. – James 1:5

will lift you up. – James 4:10

under God’s mighty hand, that he may lift you up in due
time. Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for
you. – 1 Peter 5:6-7

on us, that we should be called children of God! And that
