Outreach to the Community
Churches often seek new ideas for attracting people to
the Lord. Many of those ideas get results. Parenting
classes, though, create a unique opportunity to touch
the lives of people. Ministering to families through
a felt need (all parents need help at some point) often
opens the doors for conversations about spirituality
and about the message of salvation. The church develops
a reputation that says, "We care about families," and
people are eager to learn more.
At the National Center for Biblical Parenting
we've created video training resources that can be used
as an outreach to the community. Both the Say
Goodbye to Whining video series and the Parenting
is Heart Work video series are designed with
outreach in mind. Although they are biblically based, the
scripture references come in later in the teaching and
even people who don't value the scriptures as their authority
appreciate the helpful ideas.
The manual entitled, "How
to Run A Community Outreach Using Parenting Seminars" is a great tool to guide you through
the process of informing the church, organizing the event, advertising
to the community, and planning for success.
